Job Role Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for turning design concepts into buildable reality—owning the process from interpreting architectural plans to delivering precise shop and fabrication drawings. The Project Engineer plays a key role in ensuring every project is engineered for efficiency, quality, and ease of installation. This individual must be in tune with both the client needs and the needs of Mesa’s shop and fabrication team, knowing how to solve complex problems based on a multitude of factors.

Job Role

  • Take designs from concept, to accurate 3D models, and into construction drawings for both clients and the build team.
  • Produce clear, client-facing shop drawings and renderings for approvals.
  • Develop detailed build drawings for fabrication with minimal ambiguity.
  • Create CNC-ready files and collaborate with CNC operators on execution.
  • Coordinate with shop foreman to align designs with production capabilities.
  • Conduct site surveys and field measurements to ensure accuracy.
  • Compile material takeoffs with accurate yields for purchasing.
  • Assist in the management of jobs to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support material sourcing and vendor coordination.
  • Act as the liaison between Project Managers, clients, vendors, and the shop team.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to focus deeply on technical work
  • Strong problem solver with a “figure it out” mindset
  • Effective communicator who can bridge gaps between design, client expectations, and production realities
  • Able to think both big-picture and at a granular level.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling (AutoCAD. VectorWorks preferred)
  • Understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and construction methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • 5+ years experience drafting/detailing furniture, millwork, metal fabrication and other architectural items.

  Pay / Time

  • Salary: $80,000-$115,000
  • Profit Sharing
  • Paid Time Off: 10 days per year after 90 day probationary period
  • Holidays: 10 paid holidays annually
  • Insurance: Mesa covers 50% of health insurance costs; dental and vision coverage available at the employee’s expense
